MFT Card Design Superstar Contest

I decided it was time to wipe the dust off my blog and enter the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest.  I have a tall Nantucket style basket in my kitchen filled with orange and red ranunculus and have often thought what a pretty card this image would make.  Using the Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set I created this card.

Card Design Superstar

To start this card, I stamped and embossed the poppy images with gold embossing powder.  I then water colored the flowers with orange and pink distress inks and  instead of water, used shimmer mist to blend the colors.  The shimmer mist gave the flowers a slight sheen and a different look then using water.  To create the vase, I cut out a rectangle using one of the small rectangle dies from the Blueprints 23 die set.  The flower stems were created using  the border stamp image  from  the Whimsical Wishes stamp set. This image was stamped on cream colored paper and embossed with verdigris embossing powder. I then inserted the stamp image behind the cut out rectangle. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I used the pierced rectangle die from Blueprints 20 dies for the rectangle layer.  Adhesive foam tape was used to layer the flowers and  After Midnight card stock was used for the card base. I debated whether or not to tweak the card but in the end I liked the simplicity of the card and left it as is.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and good luck to all the card makers who entered the contest.
