My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar Contest

This is my third and final entry for the Card Design Superstar Contest at My Favorite Things. I had so much fun creating my entries for this contest.

For this card I used  the Stitched Triple Peek-A-Boo Window die to create a fun little  scene of  a cat  catching a fish and eating it. A small fish scale  is stamped in the waves below.  The following stamp sets were used on this card:  BB I Knead YouSoak up the Fun, BG Whimsical Waves Background,  and the little heart came from the Written in Watercolor  stamp set.   The center panel was cut from the Die-namics Blueprints 23 die. The blue background paper came from the Sweet Sunshine paper pack.

Good luck to everyone who entered the contest.  There are so many amazing entries. Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Design Superstar Contest My Favorite Things

Here is the second card I created for the  Card Design Superstar Contest at My Favorite Things.

For this card I used the following My Favorite Things dies and stamps :  LJD Spring Wreath stamp and dies  the Whimsical Woodgrain Background stamp, and the Written in Watercolor stamp set.   To create the wreath I only used the die cuts, no stamping was involved.  I use Brusho Crystal Watercolors to create background paper from which I die cut the wreath and flowers.  I  began by cutting out two wreaths.  One layer was created with multicolored leaves and the second layer was created with multicolored flowers.  The two layers were attached with foam mount adhesive. To give the die cuts some shine, I spritzed the water colored background with glimmer mist which gave the paper a beautiful sheen.  The sentiment banner was stamped on vellum and embossed with the same blueberry ink that was used for the background. A little heart accented the sentiment and  a string bow finished off the card.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Have a great day!

Design Superstar Contest

I always enjoy the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest because it makes me focus on different and unusual ways to design a card. After much thought, I came up with this card.

Print

The Stitched Flowers dies from the  August card kit were used  for this card.   I used the die cuts within a die cut  technique to create this card.  After arranging the flowers within a circle,  the flowers were cut out with a circle die. It took me several tries but I was finally able to achieve the results I wanted.  I made the sentiment monochromatic with the background so  as not to distract from the floral arrangement.  I ran the sentiment die through the die cut machine four times and glued the sentiments together so it would have depth and stand out on the card.  A dot of dandelion yellow Nuvo Crystal drops was used  to highlight the sentiment.  Pan Pastels  were used to color the flowers and  each flower was colored slightly different. All dies and paper used on this card are from My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for looking and have a great day!

Mix It Up Challenge

This month the Mix It Up Challenge at Ellen Hutson features Concord & 9th. The challenge is to use an Essentials by Ellen stamp or die with a featured stamp company.

I used the Flourish stamp set from Concord & 9th for the floral design along with the Bold Blooms stamp set from Ellen Hutson for the sentiment.   The Flourish stamp set is a stamp layering set with endless possibilities for color combinations which makes it so fun to use.  I thought the oh happy day sentiment went well with the bright cheerful colors I used on the card.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a great day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 294

This week I decided to play along with the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge.  Here is this weeks sketch and my card based on the sketch.

I have grey and blue placemats on my kitchen table  and I like the color combination so much that I decided to use those colors on my card.  I used the Beautiful Blooms stamps and die cuts for the floral bouquet.  There are so many pretty leaves and flowers in this set, that it was hard to choose which flowers to use. I highlighted the flowers with a frame from the Scallop Rectangle Frame die set.  For the dotted scallops,  I used the Myriad Dot background stamp and  the Stitched Scallop Edges die.  Three dots of Caribbean Ocean Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off  the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a good weekend.

Mix It Up Challenge

The card I am sharing today was made for the Mix It Up  Challenge at Ellen Hutson.  This months challenge is to use an Essentials by  Ellen product combined with a Winnie and Walter product.

For  this card I used the Many Thanks die  from Ellen Hutson and A Tree For All Seasons stamp set from Winnie and Walter. I really like this stamp set, especially the tree which reminds me of the giant magnolia tree in my back year.  Birds tend to flock to the tree, especially Blue Jays and Cardinals.    I separated the words in the die cut and altered it by adding   the small leaf stamp from the set to the sentiment.  A few ink blots finished off the card.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a good day!

Mix It Up Challenge

Banner-MIX-it

Today I am sharing a card I made for the Mix It Up Challenge at Ellen Hutson.  This months challenge is to use an Essentials by Ellen stamp  set or die along with a stamp set or die from WPlus9 Design Studio.

For my card I used the Fancy Thanks stamp set by Julie Ebersole along with the Fanciful Feathers dies from WPlus9. The feathers were made my making a watercolor panel using  turquois and purple Brusho  crystal color watercolors.  After the panel was dried I die cut the feathers.  The effect you get with the crystal watercolors is so unique and  pretty.  I then added a few sequins for a little sparkle.  A piece of craft foam behind the center panel slightly elevated the panel and gave the card added dimension without making it too bulky.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a great day!
