<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">For my card I used the Gentle Leaf Collage as well as the Birthday Sentiments stamp set from Memory Box. The alphabet dies are from Altenew. It's always a challenge to me to find images for a male card since I have a house full of boys. So when the saw the leaf collage die I thought it would be perfect for so many occasions for a male themed card. To start with, I used dark brown cardstock and backed the leaf die with blue dotted glitter paper. Blue metallic paper was used for the dad sentiment and gold metallic ink to stamp happy birthday. Blue sequins were used to accent the card. I was happy with how the card turned out.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">To create this card, I used the flower dies from the Sensational Stitched Flowers card kit. Rather than cut the flowers out of colored cardstock, I cut the flowers out of white cardstock and colored with Pan Pastels. This way I could have some color variations on the flowers. Foam adhesive was added between the flower layers to make them stand out. The sentiment was cut from several colors of card stock and glued together for added dimension. A few black dots finished off the card.

Using the cute Tea Party die-namics and coordinating stamp set I created this card. I love this stamp and die set because I am a big tea drinker and tea almost always helps me feel better when I am feeling under the weather. Here is the card with the tea bag inside the cup.
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">And here is the card with the tea bag outside of the cup.
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
The flowers and greenery are from the Pretty Posies stamp set. I made a saucer for the cup from the Oval Shadows die set. For the sentiments I used the Cup of Tea stamp set. A few colored dots finished off the card.
<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">For my card I decided to try an ombre effect using Altenew inks along with the Felicity stamp set from Pink Fresh Studio. I created a striped background using the same colored ink I used to stamp the birds. I also used the Fancy Thanks stamp set from Essentials by Ellen. I don't know why, but I really like the bird stamp in this stamp set. I combined it with the graphic background stamp that is also from the Felicity stamp set. A few black pearls on the tag finished off the card.
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">For this card I used the following My Favorite Things dies and stamps : LJD Spring Wreath stamp and dies the Whimsical Woodgrain Background stamp, and the Written in Watercolor stamp set. To create the wreath I only used the die cuts, no stamping was involved. I use Brusho Crystal Watercolors to create background paper from which I die cut the wreath and flowers. I began by cutting out two wreaths. One layer was created with multicolored leaves and the second layer was created with multicolored flowers. The two layers were attached with foam mount adhesive. To give the die cuts some shine, I spritzed the water colored background with glimmer mist which gave the paper a beautiful sheen. The sentiment banner was stamped on vellum and embossed with the same blueberry ink that was used for the background. A little heart accented the sentiment and a string bow finished off the card.
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;"> The Stitched Flowers dies from the August card kit were used for this card. I used the die cuts within a die cut technique to create this card. After arranging the flowers within a circle, the flowers were cut out with a circle die. It took me several tries but I was finally able to achieve the results I wanted. I made the sentiment monochromatic with the background so as not to distract from the floral arrangement. I ran the sentiment die through the die cut machine four times and glued the sentiments together so it would have depth and stand out on the card. A dot of dandelion yellow Nuvo Crystal drops was used to highlight the sentiment. Pan Pastels were used to color the flowers and each flower was colored slightly different. All dies and paper used on this card are from My Favorite Things.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;"> I have grey and blue placemats on my kitchen table and I like the color combination so much that I decided to use those colors on my card. I used the Beautiful Blooms stamps and die cuts for the floral bouquet. There are so many pretty leaves and flowers in this set, that it was hard to choose which flowers to use. I highlighted the flowers with a frame from the Scallop Rectangle Frame die set. For the dotted scallops, I used the Myriad Dot background stamp and the Stitched Scallop Edges die. Three dots of Caribbean Ocean Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off the card.

The feathers were made my making a watercolor panel using turquois and purple Brusho crystal color watercolors. After the panel was dried I die cut the feathers. The effect you get with the crystal watercolors is so unique and pretty. I then added a few sequins for a little sparkle. A piece of craft foam behind the center panel slightly elevated the panel and gave the card added dimension without making it too bulky.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I enjoy making shaker cards and the Birthday Centerpiece die is perfect for this type of card. To create the circle background I experimented with Brusho Crystal Colour in emerald green. Brusho is a dry watercolor that you shake out of a container then mist with water to activate the crystals. Each time I used it, the pattern was different. The emerald green color had shades of green, blue and yellow. Depending on how much you sprinkle and how wet your paper is the effect changes. I thought it made a pretty background for the card. I used Lush Lagoon card stock and the coordinating pattern paper. To finish the card I used a light green foil paper to cut out the Brushstroke Birthday Greetings dies. All the papers and dies I used were from My Favorite Things.
I decided it was time to wipe the dust off my blog and enter the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest. I have a tall Nantucket style basket in my kitchen filled with orange and red ranunculus and have often thought what a pretty card this image would make. Using the Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set I created this card.

To start this card, I stamped and embossed the poppy images with gold embossing powder. I then water colored the flowers with orange and pink distress inks and instead of water, used shimmer mist to blend the colors. The shimmer mist gave the flowers a slight sheen and a different look then using water. To create the vase, I cut out a rectangle using one of the small rectangle dies from the Blueprints 23 die set. The flower stems were created using the border stamp image from the Whimsical Wishes stamp set. This image was stamped on cream colored paper and embossed with verdigris embossing powder. I then inserted the stamp image behind the cut out rectangle. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder. I used the pierced rectangle die from Blueprints 20 dies for the rectangle layer. Adhesive foam tape was used to layer the flowers and After Midnight card stock was used for the card base. I debated whether or not to tweak the card but in the end I liked the simplicity of the card and left it as is.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and good luck to all the card makers who entered the contest.
A dear friend of mine recently had surgery and I wanted to send her a cheery get well card. I started with this pretty pattern paper from Pebbles. I love all the blue flowers! Then I added this large sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps. To finish off the card, I stamped and cut out a coordinating flower and greenery from Avery Elle. I used a bright blue card base to bring everything together. When my son saw the card he said "Wow, that's a lot of color" He liked it, so I hope my friend does too.
That's all I have for today. Now I have to get ready to watch the Red Sox game. Since they traded away most of their pitchers, the next few months will certainly be interesting. I can't wait for next spring when hopefully they can make another run for the trophy. I never expected them to win last year! What a great playoff season it was. Who knew they could get past the Tigers and Cardinals to win it all? My youngest son always had faith, but I had my doubts. Thank goodness for Ortiz!

This card used distress inks to color the stamped image. As you can see, a little of the red ink bled onto the paper. I tried in vain to remove the ink but I had no luck. I'll have to keep practicing to avoid the ink running onto the paper. The poppy stamps I used are from Penny Black and the distress inks I used are red barn and spiced marmalade

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Overall I liked the effect you receive with the distress inks and how the colors blend. This is one technique that takes some practice to perfect.

Gelatos are concentrated pigment sticks that come in brilliant colors. When used with water, a watercolor effect is created.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">As you can see from the few stray spots of color, I still need to practice more with this medium to get better results. However, I love the bright colors you can achieve from mixing several shades of color. To add some texture to the card, I used embossing paste and an honeycomb stencil. A stamped sentiment from the Avery Elle stamp set, Brushed completed the card.

I have to say, I love these stamps! Joann's had the stamps on sale so I was able to pick up a few sets and I am so glad I did. The stamps are from Art Impressions.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I like these stamps because they stamp beautifully, no two cards will ever be exactly alike and you can create so many variations in design and color. Plus each card looks like a little piece of original artwork. My husband bought me a box of premade cards and I wasn't really sure how I would use them, but I think this wood grain image on this card works well with the watercolor image. All in all this was a fun technique.
Once again it only took me five or six tries to finally get a background that I liked! I then used a watercolor flower and leaves to compliment the background. The stamps I used were from the Avery Elle sets Petals and Stems and Oh Happy Day.
I absolutely loved this class, but since I was sick for the first week of class, I was not able to make as many cards as I would have liked using all the amazing techniques we were taught. Today's card uses distress inks to make this watercolor background. It only took me five or six tries to get a background that I really liked! It looked so easy in the lesson, but through trial and error, I think I finally got the hang of it.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">It's hard to tell from the photo, but the sentiment consisted of five layers of card stock in the same colors as the ink I used - red, pink orange and yellow. I trimmed the color wash and use foam dots to add dimension to the card. All in all this was a fun technique. I'll keep sharing more cards until the card class gallery closes on Thursday.
